Een elektrische moederfiets die het hele gezin aankan

Met kinderen naar school, naar de opvang, of even snel boodschappen halen. Een elektrische moederfiets is gemaakt om dat dagelijks te doen, met kind achterop en tassen aan het stuur. De fietsen op deze pagina hebben een lage instap, zodat je makkelijk op- en afstapt, ook als je een kind in het zitje hebt zitten. Het frame is zwaarder uitgevoerd dan bij een gewone e-bike. Dat voel je vooral als je stilstaat bij een stoplicht met extra gewicht achterop: de fiets blijft stabiel staan in plaats van te wiebelen.

Lage instap en een stabiel frame

Twijfel je tussen een hoge en een lage instap? Met kinderen kies je bijna altijd lage instap. Je hoeft je been niet hoog over het zadel te zwaaien terwijl er een zitje in de weg zit. De modellen hier staan stevig op brede banden, wat scheelt bij het laden en lossen. Een dubbele standaard helpt daarbij, want die houdt de fiets recht terwijl je een kind vastmaakt. Niet elk model heeft dat standaard, dus let daar even op in de filters als je vaak alleen met de kinderen op pad gaat.

Plek voor een kinderzitje

De meeste fietsen in deze selectie zijn geschikt voor een kinderzitje achterop, en sommige ook voorop. Een longtail gaat nog een stap verder: door het verlengde achterframe zet je er twee zitjes op of een groter kind plus boodschappen. Wil je weten of een specifiek model past bij het zitje dat je in gedachten hebt, kijk dan naar het maximale draaggewicht per fiets. Dat verschilt flink, van rond de 120 kg tot ruim 200 kg bij de longtails en bakfietsen.

Genoeg bereik voor een drukke week

Een moederfiets draagt meer gewicht, dus de accu werkt harder dan bij een kale stadsfiets. De modellen hier halen afhankelijk van het type tussen de 50 en 140 km op een lading. Voor de meeste ouders is dat ruim een week aan ritjes naar school en terug. Rijd je veel met twee kinderen of vol beladen, kies dan een model met een grotere accu of een middenmotor, want die verdeelt de kracht gelijkmatiger en houdt het bij wegrijden met gewicht beter vol. Voor de echte werkpaarden zijn de bakfietsen en longtails de logische keuze.
