Is the Cavet Air legal?
Yes. The Cavet Air only assists you if you pedal yourself and stops at 25 km/h, with a 250W motor and no throttle. This makes it just an electric bike, not a moped. So you are allowed to ride it anywhere you can ride a regular bike.
How fast does the Cavet Air go, and am I allowed to increase its speed?
The Cavet Air supports speeds up to 25 km/h. Faster is not allowed: once you modify a fatbike to go faster, it is legally considered a moped. You are then required to have insurance, a license plate, and a helmet, and your warranty becomes void. With our bikes, you ride safely within the rules.
Do I need a driver's license, insurance, or registration for the Cavet Air?
No. Because the Cavet Air supports speeds up to 25 km/h, it counts as a regular bike. No driver's license, no license plate, no mandatory insurance. A bike insurance against theft or damage is smart, but that is up to you.
From what age are you allowed to ride the Cavet Air?
There is no legal minimum age for an electric bike like the Cavet Air in the Netherlands. Anyone is allowed to ride it, and a helmet is not mandatory.
How far can you go with the Cavet Air on a single battery charge?
With the Cavet Air, you can ride about 100 km on a full battery. The exact distance depends on your speed, your weight, how much assistance you use, and the wind.
What warranty do I get on the Cavet Air?
You get a 3-year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the moving parts. If something breaks during that period due to a manufacturing defect, we will take care of it for you.

A-Spadz Cavet Air at GOfatbike

The A-Spadz Cavet Air is an electric fatbike with a cafe racer look and wide 20-inch tires. You sit low and stretched out behind the handlebars, with a long saddle that can accommodate a passenger. The motor assists as soon as you start pedaling, and the front suspension absorbs the biggest shocks. In this explanation, we go through what the Cavet Air can do, its strengths, and what to watch out for before you choose. This way, you’ll know if this model fits your riding style.

Entry and seating position

The first thing you notice is the low, stretched-out seating position. You can easily get on and immediately sit comfortably behind the handlebars, with your feet close to the ground. The long saddle is the special feature of this model: there is room for a second person, as long as you stay within the 180 kg weight limit. Great for a ride with two. If you want to ride sportily and leaned forward, this is not your bike. The Cavet Air opts for comfort and a relaxed posture, not for speed in the corners.

Range and battery

The battery is a 48V 15.6Ah pack integrated into the frame. This provides a generous range, but exactly how far you get depends on many factors. Your weight, the wind, how much assistance you choose, and whether you have to start frequently at traffic lights. So don’t count on a fixed number, but on a range that varies per ride. If you ride calmly and on a lower setting, you’ll clearly get more out of it. If you regularly charge the battery, you’ll rarely be left with an empty bike on the side of the road.

Motor, speed, and regulations

The Cavet Air has a 250W motor with 55Nm torque. Assistance stops at 25 km/h and you always pedal yourself; there is no throttle. This means the bike counts as a regular electric bike. You don’t need a driver’s license, registration, or helmet to ride it. The 55Nm torque ensures you get off to a smooth start, even with a passenger on board. Avoid tuning it up. If you go faster than the law allows, you fall outside the category of regular e-bikes, and the brakes and frame are not designed for that. Your warranty will also be voided.

Tires, brakes, and riding feel

The wide 20-inch fat tires provide plenty of grip and a stable feel, whether you're riding on asphalt or a looser path. The front suspension absorbs bumps, so your hands and wrists endure less strain. You brake with hydraulic disc brakes, which perform well even when wet and handle steep descents confidently. On the TFT display, you can read your speed and battery level. The downside of all that rubber and steel is the weight. Lifting the bike up a step requires muscle power, so keep that in mind.

Who is this fatbike for

This model suits those who want to sit comfortably and low, and occasionally take someone along on the long saddle. Think of the ride to work, running errands, or a weekend spin. The cafe racer style appeals if you want something different from an average city bike. The Cavet Air is less suitable if you’re looking for a lightweight bike that you often have to carry or take on public transport. To be honest: this is a sturdier model that performs best on the road itself.
