Range and battery

This is the biggest difference from the standard Ace. The removable LG battery is rated at 36V and 15 amp-hours, for a total of 540 watt-hours. In the most economical assistance mode, you can travel up to 120 kilometers; in the highest mode, approximately 80 kilometers. Your exact range depends on your weight, the wind, the selected assistance level, and how often you accelerate from traffic lights, so allow for a margin rather than relying on a fixed figure. You can click the battery out of the seatpost to charge it indoors from a regular wall outlet, and a full charge takes four to six hours.

Motor, speed, and the rules

The rear hub contains a 250W motor with 45 Nm of torque. A torque sensor measures how hard you pedal and adjusts the assistance, making pedaling feel natural and allowing the bike to start smoothly when you set off. Assistance continues up to 25 km/h; you always pedal yourself, and there is no throttle. This means the Ace Pro qualifies as a regular electric bike, without requiring a driving licence, registration plate, or helmet. We advise against derestricting it: the bike would then fall outside that category, and the brakes and frame are not designed for it, while your warranty would become void.

Tires, brakes and riding feel

The 20-inch CST tires, measuring 2.125 inches wide, provide grip on the road and make the bike agile in busy traffic. Up front, a Zoom suspension fork absorbs curbs and speed bumps, while the rear has no suspension. Braking is handled by hydraulic Tektro disc brakes, which perform reliably even in wet weather and require less hand strength than the mechanical brakes on the standard Ace. With Shimano's 7 gears, you can choose your own pace, whether you're riding into the wind or heading up a bridge. The small wheels make the Ace Pro respond directly to steering, which may take some getting used to if you're coming from a large city bike.

To be fair, a folding bike with 20-inch wheels and front suspension only rides differently from a large city bike, so you will feel more on rough surfaces.
