Motor, speed, and regulations

The Romer runs on a 250W Bafang motor with 80 Nm of torque, which is especially helpful when starting off and on small bridges. The assistance runs up to 25 km/h and you always pedal yourself, without a throttle. This makes the Romer a regular electric bike: no license, no registration, and no helmet required. Leave the motor as it is. Making it faster takes the bike out of its legal category, the brakes and frame are not built for that, and you lose your warranty. For comfortable riding in and around the city, that 250W is more than enough.

Tires, brakes, and riding feel

On the road, you shift with the Shimano seven-speed gears, so you can choose a lighter gear for climbing and a heavier one for pedaling smoothly. The adjustable ZOOM front fork absorbs some of the vibrations and makes riding on curbs or bumpy roads smoother. At the front, there is a bright LED headlight and at the back an integrated brake light, so you are clearly visible in the dark. The riding feel is comfortable and upright, focused on ease rather than speed. A folding bike steers a bit more directly due to its compact design than a large city bike; it takes a moment to get used to, but then it rides nicely.

Who is this folding bike for

The Romer suits someone who has little storage space, wants to take the bike along occasionally, or simply likes easy mounting.
