JOBOBIKE Transer at GOfatbike
The JOBOBIKE Transer is an electric longtail, a bike with an extended rear frame designed to carry children or cargo. It is made for families and those who regularly transport goods, featuring a low step-through frame for easy mounting and dismounting. While riding, the motor assists you, even when carrying heavier loads. Below, we go through the frame, loading options, battery, motor, and safety so you can see if the Transer fits your daily transportation needs.
Extended frame and load capacity
The extended rear frame is what the Transer is all about. It allows you to carry more than on a regular bike, with a maximum load capacity of 200 kg including yourself. The low step-through frame makes mounting and dismounting easy, even when something or someone is on the back. Useful to know: because of the longer frame, the bike is less maneuverable in tight turns and requires more storage space. When carrying cargo or a passenger, this is more than compensated by the convenience you get in return.
Carrying children or cargo
There is space at the back for a passenger or your groceries, bags, and belongings. With accessories, you can further customize the carrier to suit your needs; what you need exactly depends on who or what you are carrying. If you ride with a child on the back, take your time to get used to the weight and balance, especially when starting and stopping. Distribute the load as low and evenly as possible to keep the bike feeling more stable and easier to steer.
Range and battery
The Transer has a dual battery system of 48V 13Ah, providing a generous range. However, there is no fixed number: your weight, the load, the wind, the chosen assist level, and the terrain all determine how far you can go. If you often ride heavily loaded, the range decreases, which is natural. Therefore, allow for a margin and adjust your expectations based on how you use the bike. Pedaling gently on a lower assist level extends the range, while fully loaded on the highest assist level drains the battery faster.
Motor, speed, and the rules
The Transer runs on a 250W XOFO motor that helps you get going, especially useful when carrying weight on the back. The assistance runs up to 25 km/h and you always pedal yourself, without a throttle. This makes the Transer a regular electric bike: no license, registration, or helmet required. Leave the motor alone when it comes to speeding up. When loaded, predictable and controlled riding is more important than speed, and tuning the bike out of its legal category will void your warranty.
Braking, stability, and safety
Because you’re riding with a load, braking is important. The Transer has hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, which provide consistent braking power even when fully loaded. You shift with Shimano’s seven gears, handy for smooth starts when loaded. LED lights front and rear with a brake light function ensure you’re clearly visible. A longtail is bigger and heavier than a regular bike, so give yourself some space on your first rides to get used to steering and braking. If you want something small and light, this isn’t your bike; if you want to transport things, it’s built for that.
