Is the NYC legal?
Yes. The NYC only assists you if you pedal yourself and stops at 25 km/h, with a 250W motor and no throttle. This makes it just an electric bike, not a moped. So you are allowed to ride it anywhere you can ride a regular bike.
How fast does the NYC go, and am I allowed to increase its speed?
The NYC supports speeds up to 25 km/h. Faster is not allowed: as soon as you tune an e-bike, it legally counts as a moped. You are then required to have insurance, a license plate, and a helmet, and your warranty becomes void. With our bikes, you ride safely within the rules.
Do I need a driver's license, insurance, or registration for the NYC?
No. Because the NYC supports up to 25 km/h, it counts as a regular bike. No driver's license, no license plate, no mandatory insurance. A bike insurance against theft or damage is smart, but that’s up to you.
From what age are you allowed to ride the NYC?
There is no legal minimum age for an electric bike in the Netherlands like in NYC. Everyone is allowed to ride one, and wearing a helmet is not mandatory.
How far can you go with the NYC on a single battery charge?
With the NYC, you can ride about 80 km on a full battery. The exact distance depends on your speed, your weight, how much assistance you use, and the wind.
What warranty do I get on the NYC?
