Assistance runs up to 25 km per hour, you pedal along yourself, and there is no throttle. This makes the Q9 count as a regular electric bike: no license, registration, or helmet required. We advise against modifying the bike. Doing so puts you outside the legal category, the brakes and frame are not designed for it, and your warranty will be void. The wide 20x4.0 tires provide plenty of grip and absorb vibrations on asphalt, gravel, and unpaved sections. They are also puncture-resistant, reducing the chance of breakdowns on the road. You shift with seven Shimano gears, convenient on hills or when you want to accelerate. Hydraulic brakes are on the front and rear, offering direct and controlled stopping, even in the rain. The riding experience is stable and confident. The downside is the weight: lifting it takes effort. If you often have to lift it over curbs or stairs, consider that weight in your decision.
