Is the E-Easy D7 legal?
Yes. The E-Easy D7 only assists you when you pedal yourself and stops at 25 km/h, with a 250W motor and no throttle. This makes it simply an electric bike, not a moped. So you are allowed to ride it anywhere you can ride a regular bike.
How fast does the E-Easy D7 go, and am I allowed to increase its speed?
The E-Easy D7 supports speeds up to 25 km/h. Faster is not allowed: once you modify a folding bike, it legally counts as a moped. You are then required to have insurance, a license plate, and a helmet, and your warranty becomes void. With our bikes, you ride safely within the rules.
Do I need a driver's license, insurance, or registration for the E-Easy D7?
No. Because the E-Easy D7 supports up to 25 km/h, it counts as a regular bike. No driver's license, no license plate, no mandatory insurance. A bike insurance against theft or damage is smart, but that is up to you.
From what age are you allowed to ride the E-Easy D7?
There is no legal minimum age for an electric bike like the E-Easy D7 in the Netherlands. Anyone can ride it, and a helmet is not mandatory.
What warranty do I get on the E-Easy D7?
You get a 3-year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the moving parts. If something breaks during that period due to a manufacturing defect, we will take care of it for you.

Puch E-Easy D7 at GOfatbike

The Puch E-Easy D7 is an electric folding bike for those who want to be flexible on the go. You fold it up, take it with you in the car, train, or boat, and unfold it again when you continue cycling. The smaller wheels and compact frame make the E-Easy handy in the city and easy to store at home. Yet you still pedal with assistance, so you move along smoothly. In this explanation, we go through folding it, the weight, the battery, the drive, and the question of who this folding bike suits.

Compact and foldable

The big advantage of the E-Easy D7 is that it folds into a compact package. The frame folds in the middle, the handlebars can be lowered, and this way the bike disappears into a corner of the hallway, under a desk, or in a trunk. This is convenient for commuters: bike to the station, fold it up, get on the train. Folding becomes easy and almost automatic after a few times. Check if the place where you want to store the bike has enough space, so you’re sure the folded size fits.

Weight and carrying

You carry a folding bike by hand, so the weight matters more here than with a regular city bike. The E-Easy D7 is compact, but because of the battery and motor, it’s still a bike you feel when you lift it. Carrying it over a platform or up a flight of stairs is fine; a long climb carrying the bike is less comfortable. Before you buy, imagine lifting it up a flight of stairs. This gives you a realistic idea if the weight suits your situation.

Range and battery

The battery is removable, handy if you store the bike folded and want to charge the battery separately indoors. How far you go depends on your weight, the wind, the level of assistance, and whether you accelerate a lot at traffic lights. So consider a margin rather than a fixed number. For short trips to and from the station or through the city center, you usually have more than enough range. If you combine the bike with public transport, you rarely have to ride a long distance in one go, which eases the battery.

Motor, gears, and regulations

The E-Easy D7 has a 250 watt motor that supports speeds up to 25 kilometers per hour. You pedal yourself and there is no throttle, so the bike counts as a regular electric bike. You don’t need a driver’s license or registration, and there is no helmet requirement. The D7 stands for seven gears with a derailleur, a chain gear that gives you enough range for flat terrain and slight inclines. With smaller wheels, you pedal a bit more often, that’s normal. We advise against tuning it up, as you would lose the legal status and the warranty on the bike.

Who is this folding bike for

The E-Easy D7 is for commuters, for those with little storage space, and for anyone who wants to take the bike along often. If you combine your train or car with some cycling, a folding bike is a logical choice. It’s also easy to store in a small apartment. If you’re looking for a bike for long day trips with lots of comfort, larger wheels are more comfortable. The E-Easy D7 is best for shorter distances and where compactness and portability are most important.

Ordering at GOfatbike
