V20 Cross: skinny bike with the look of a motocross bike
The V20 Cross stands out with its high cross frame and chunky knobby tires. At first glance, it looks like a fatbike, but the tires are clearly narrower. This makes it quicker to get going and more agile in traffic than the wider models. Below is what the bike offers technically and what to consider before you choose. The V20 Cross is one of the newer models in the V20 line and is mainly chosen by riders who take short to medium-length rides.
Skinny bike, not a fatbike
The tire width determines everything here. The V20 Cross rides on 17-inch tires about 7 centimeters wide, whereas a classic fatbike uses tires around 10 centimeters wide. Narrower means less rolling resistance, so you get up to speed more easily and maintain that pace longer. This works well on paved roads and bike paths. If you often ride through loose sand or muddy trails, a wide fatbike offers more grip. The look doesn’t change because the high frame and chunky tires keep the motocross appearance intact.
Motor, speed, and regulations
The motor delivers 250W nominal and peaks at 500W. The assistance helps up to 25 km/h and stops as soon as you stop pedaling, since there is no throttle to accelerate independently. This places the V20 Cross in the category of electric bikes with pedal assistance. There is walk assistance up to 6 km/h to push the bike alongside you. Tuning the motor is not recommended: your bike will then fall into a different vehicle category and the warranty will be void.
Battery, range, and charging
The removable 48V battery has a capacity of 22Ah, or 1056 Wh. This gets you up to about 70 kilometers. Treat that as a guideline: your own weight, headwind, and the chosen assistance level all affect what you actually achieve, and in cold weather the range is lower. Fully charging takes about 6 hours. Because the battery can be removed, you can charge it wherever it suits you instead of next to the bike.
Brakes, suspension, and shifting
Hydraulic disc brakes are installed at the front and rear. These brakes are more powerful than mechanical brakes and offer more precise control, even when it's wet. The dual suspension absorbs shocks from the road surface, keeping the bike stable. With the Shimano 7-speed gears, you can adjust the pedaling resistance to the situation: lighter against headwinds or uphill, heavier when you want to ride faster.
Who is this model for
If you are about 1.50 meters tall or taller, you can comfortably ride the V20 Cross. The extended saddle allows you to carry a passenger on the back, and the load capacity is up to 150 kg. Keep in mind the bike's own weight. At 44.7 kg, lifting it to an upper floor is not an option. If you have storage on the ground floor, this is not an issue. For commuting to work or school and short trips around the city, this is a logical choice.
Difference from the other V20 models
Within the V20 line, the Pro, Comfort, and Limited are the wide fatbikes with 20-inch tires, focused on comfort. The Cross opts for narrower tires and a sportier, taller frame. The Mini is the compact version for smaller riders or tight storage spaces. If you want maximum cushioning and stability, a wide model is better. If you want a nimble bike with a cross look, the Cross is the better match.
