Goedkope fatbike kopen: waar let je op?

Een goedkope fatbike hoeft geen slechte fatbike te zijn. Op deze pagina staan onze voordeligste modellen, en de meeste hebben dezelfde basis als duurdere fietsen: 20 inch wielen, een motor van 250 W en hydraulische schijfremmen. Waar zit het verschil dan wel? Meestal in de accu, de vering en de afwerking. Daar kun je op besparen zonder dat je er elke dag last van hebt, mits je weet hoe je de fiets gaat gebruiken. Rijd je elke dag dezelfde route naar school of werk, dan betaal je bij een duurder model al snel voor bereik dat je niet nodig hebt. Rijd je lange stukken of met iemand achterop, dan is de goedkoopste fiets niet per se de beste koop. De prijs op deze pagina verandert met acties en voorraad, dus kijk steeds naar wat er nu staat. Wat vandaag scherp geprijsd is, kan volgende week anders zijn.

Wat je krijgt bij een goedkope fatbike

Veel 20 inch modellen hier hebben een accu van 48V met 15Ah, samen 720 Wh. Bij de V20, V20 Pro, OUXI V8 Ultra en OUXI GT-20 komt dat volgens de specificaties neer op zo'n 60 km bij gemiddelde ondersteuning. Dat is genoeg voor de meeste mensen die een paar keer per week heen en weer rijden. De actieradius op papier haal je niet altijd. Tegenwind, een zware rijder of vaak optrekken kosten bereik. Bijna alle fietsen op deze pagina hebben hydraulische schijfremmen. De ENGWE L20 is een uitzondering, die remt mechanisch. Dat werkt ook, maar je moet er wat vaker naar omkijken.

Goedkope fatbike met lage of hoge instap

Op deze pagina staan beide soorten instap. De V20 Comfort en de ENGWE L20 hebben een lage instap, net als de V20 Pro Mini. De meeste andere modellen hebben een hoge instap, waarbij je je been over het frame zwaait. Stap je vaak af, of rijd je met een tas of rugzak, dan is een lage instap prettig. Kijk ook naar de wielmaat. De 16 inch modellen zoals de V20 Pro Mini en OUXI C80 Mini zijn voordelig en klein, maar volgens de specificaties bedoeld voor 120 tot 145 cm. Voor een volwassene van gemiddelde lengte is dat dus geen slimme besparing, hoe aantrekkelijk de prijs ook is. Ze hebben ook een kleinere accu, tussen de 374 en 468 Wh.

Waar je bij een lage prijs voor oppast

Zie je ergens een nieuwe elektrische fatbike voor een bedrag dat veel te mooi lijkt, kijk dan goed wat er precies wordt aangeboden. Vaak gaat het om een los onderdeel, een gebruikte fiets of een model zonder trapondersteuning. Let ook op het motorvermogen. Een fiets die meer dan 250 W nominaal levert of zonder te trappen doorrijdt, telt in Nederland niet als gewone elektrische fiets. Dan heb je met andere regels te maken, hoe voordelig de aanschaf ook was. De fietsen op deze pagina vergelijk je daarom het best op de specificaties en niet alleen op de prijs. Kijk ook even naar de levertijd op de productpagina. Niet elk model komt direct uit voorraad, en juist bij scherp geprijsde fietsen kan een kleur tijdelijk op bestelling staan.

Goedkoop blijft het als je er goed mee omgaat

De aanschaf is één ding. Een fatbike gaat langer mee als je de banden op spanning houdt, de ketting af en toe smeert en de accu niet leeg laat staan. Reken ook een goed slot mee, dat hoort bij de aanschaf. Betalen in termijnen kan ook, dan hoef je niet alles in één keer neer te leggen.
