The key feature of the LON is the low step-through frame. Motor, speed, and regulations

The LON has a centrally placed 250W ANANDA motor that provides smooth assistance and phases out support around 25 km/h. There is no throttle, so you always pedal yourself, which means the bike is classified as a regular electric bike: no license, registration, or helmet required. Do not modify the bike to go faster. Doing so will void its status as a regular e-bike, void your warranty, and create unnecessary risks.

Battery and range

The Samsung battery is designed for a wide range; under favorable conditions, KNAAP mentions up to about 140 kilometers. Use that as a guideline, because in practice your weight, the wind, the terrain, and the support level determine how far you really get. If you ride a lot in the highest setting, the range decreases. An empty battery takes about four to six hours to fully charge again, so you can recharge it between rides.

Tires, brakes, and lighting

The wide tires give the LON grip and stability, on asphalt as well as on sand or an unpaved path. The hydraulic disc brakes grip firmly with little hand force, even when wet. The LED lighting is StVZO-certified and neatly integrated into the frame, so you are visible without separate lights. On the LCD display, you keep track of your speed, battery level, and support level, and via the USB port, you can charge your phone on the go.

Who is this fatbike for

The LON is a pleasant choice for those who value easy mounting and dismounting and a relaxed, upright sitting position. The sturdy frame supports a weight of around 150 kilos and remains stable-feeling, even with groceries on the back. If you are looking for a distinctly sporty fatbike or a bike for tough offroad work, there are better options; for comfortable daily use in and around the city, the low step-through is actually a big plus.
